²⁴ The gatekeepers were positioned on the four sides: east, west, north, and south. ²⁵ Their brothers who were in their villages were to take turns coming in to be with them for a seven-day shift. ²⁶ So four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were in an office of trust and were in charge of the rooms and the treasuries in God’s house.
